Ron did the drawings for my shop 8 years ago. He was reasonably priced, did a great job and was fast to get them to us. He also just seemed like a genuinely nice guy. No issues with the building inspector when we built. Solid choice

Fernando is a brilliant architect who has a real eye for design! I have worked with him personally, and found him and his firm to be most accommodating, and wanting to go that extra mile. His insight is invaluable to anyone wanting to design their dream home. Cheers!

I am shocked that NCD asked for a review when we were clearly disappointed with their work for 90% of the process. They clearly cannot read between the lines. Here is a list of things that went wrong by using NCD:1. They built our garage way too small without consulting us. It was 19 feet wide and we have two cars. A standard garage is 20 feet. We had to submit the DP again to get a better sized garage because the one NCD designed was not acceptable.2. They didn't design an eavestrough for our front pergola so water kept dripping onto our steps and freezing during winter which turned into ice. We ended up having to hire someone to install the eavestrough to stop the water from dripping down onto our steps.3. A lot of the electrical switches placed in the house doesn't make any sense. We end up having to install pico switches all around the house so that the switch is more easily accessible.4. Near the end, we hired a different Architectural designer to fix all of NCD's mistakes, unfortunately, not all the mistakes could be caught. Our new Architectural designer revised the front elevation which made the house so much grander (which I'm sure NCD is taking full credit for even though it is not their design). He also fixed the layout of the upstairs bathroom, laundry, and master closet so there's less dead space. Our new Architectural designer spent countless hours working with NCD to retrieve our files and trying to convert the files into AutoCad which NCD does not use. They use an archaic system that is not user friendly. NCD was also quite unresponsive and uncooperative when our new Architectural designer was trying to retrieve the files. This was very costly to us because we get billed by the hour from the new designer.Overall, it was an unpleasant experience working with NCD. We heard many times from our contractors/builder that the design work is of a junior level competency. The architectural design of a house is literally the most important part of the building process. It is the foundation. It will make or break the house. We wished we never went with NCD and did more research with which company we should have gone with. Unfortunately, we never chose to work with NCD, it was assigned to us by our first builder who is unscrupulous and we already paid a deposit for the architectural work with NCD.

Fine Finishes Design Inc.
We came upon Fine Finishes by referral, and after meeting with a couple of other designers, decided to proceed with a condo renovation that we had Andrea design and manage. Andrea's aesthetic, eye for detail, and pragmatic approach was evident in that first meeting, where she quickly identified things we could do to bring in more light, make rooms feel more spacious and flow better, while asking lots of questions to uncover what things were most important to us. Core to our project was a new kitchen and replacement of the original hardwood floor throughout the condo, with all the associated electrical, plumbing, plastering and paining that goes with that, and a few other minor upgrades in the rest of the unit. We love the layout and look of our new kitchen. With her design, Andrea opened up our tiny galley kitchen, giving us more storage and work areas, without making any structural changes. She also made paint selection a breeze, which is something I've always struggled with and we love the result in every room. Relying on the contractors and skilled trades recommended by Andrea and managed by Nelson was an important part of the success of this work, as all were highly skilled, reliable, dedicated and could be depended on to deal with anything that arose (our building dates back to the 1930's so renovations always have some unforeseen challenges). We are immensely pleased with the design, quality and workmanship of the skilled trades employed, and our relationship with everyone involved.
